Ali "Go Rich Mind" Yasin
A One-Way Bus Ticket to a Millionaire's Lifestyle
My name is Ali Yasin, aka Gorichdad. My mother and father were sharecroppers when I was born on September 23, 1945. I was born in my mother’s kitchen with a midwife, in a one-room shack with no running hot water, no bathroom, no electricity, and a wood burning stove. I grew up poor on a small farm in North Carolina. As I look back now, I see that in spite of my humble surroundings, my imagination was rich with the idea of pursuing my dreams. I watched my parents struggle daily just for survival, working for fifty cents an hour, as I dreamed of getting rich one day.
At the age of 12, I began to watch a TV show called “The Millionaire,” which caused me to I formulate my life dream to become a millionaire, to live the life of a millionaire. The show starred Michael Anthony and John Tipton, a billionaire who gave away a million dollars, tax free, each week to a beneficiary he never met. As I sat each week and watched millions of dollars given away on this TV series, I began to notice the negative reaction of many people who were presented with a $1,000,000 tax-free check. I observed how many people were negative and said no to a tax-free million dollar check. This vision stuck with me. At the age of 12 and living in poverty, I was inspired to pursue my dreams. I became increasing inspired to find a way to make the millionaire lifestyle a reality for myself and my family. “The Millionaire” planted a seed in my mind that made me want to be the first millionaire in my family.
I dropped out of high school at age 17 with a burning desire to get rich. I purchased a one-way ticket on a Greyhound Bus from North Carolina to New York City, “The City of Opportunity.” I arrived in New York City with nothing but 10 cents in my pocket and a dream to become a millionaire. I immediately hit the street to continue the pursuit of my goal to be a millionaire
Even though I experienced tremendous setbacks during my first 10 years in New York City, I continued working manual and unskilled-labor jobs while pursuing my dream to be a self-made millionaire.
In 1970, I discovered a philosophy that changed my life: a book titled “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. Another book by W. Clement Stone, the author of “The Success System That Never Fails” inspired me to become an entrepreneur.
Napoleon Hill’s life was parallel to my life. Napoleon Hill started out working for a dollar a day as a coal miner, before moving into the business world. With the success of his book, Mr. Hill was paid over $100,000 a year teaching the principles of success he wrote about. His book inspired me to pursue my millionaire dream in 1980. During this period, I discovered Network Marketing. Within the past 25 years, working with the concept of Network Marketing and conventional business, I have developed a prosperity mind-set and a million dollar attitude that I began when I was 12 years old. Through this discovery and philosophy, I am now living the lifestyle of a self-made millionaire.
